Food and Workout Journal for March 23, 2008

Happy Easter! DH and I actually had a very quiet Easter as it was kind of pre-empted by my FIL's surgery. FIL had a cancerous lump in his arm that got removed yesterday (Saturday), so he's in the hospital recovering until Tuesday. So obviously, there was no big family get-together at DH's parent's house. The great news is that his dad is doing fine, and the doctors believe they were able to get all of the cancer. We will be visiting all of them next weekend, as well as my family.

9:00 a.m. Small bowl of oatmeal w/brown sugar, 1/2 banana, small glass juice

1:30 p.m. Champp's w/DH - we both got the Easter Buffet. Although it sounds like a lot to eat, my portions were really pretty small:
  • Salad w/little bit of ranch dressing and shredded cheese and bacon pieces
  • 2 very tiny mini bagels w/cream cheese
  • pasta salad
  • 1 slice ham
  • Ambrosia salad
  • 1 "French toast" sticks
  • 1 piece bacon
  • 1 tiny piece of chocolate cake w/chocolate icing
  • 2 chocolate-dipped strawberries
5:00 p.m. Small serving of lowfat chocolate chip mint ice cream

8:30 a.m. 1 serving (17 pieces) mini pretzels, water

WORKOUT: Crunch Burn and Firm Pilates w/Ellen Barrett (Wow....I had a really good workout! This one always surprises me.)

Glad to hear FIL is okay. I never heard of somebody getting cancer in their ARM. That's very odd.

Me either! It was a very large tumor on the bottom (tricep) of his right arm. He said it was painful, too. The local doctors told him he probably strained a muscle or ligament, and dismissed it. Thank goodness he went to Pittsburgh (about 80 miles from their home) for a second opinion! They told him right away it was cancer!
