My idea of a great time
Okay, so everybody has their own idea of a great time. I find mine to be much "tamer" than many folks. In fact, I'm sure many will find my "good time" activities completely boring. But that's alright. I know what makes me happy. And I know what keeps me sane.
Last night I come home feeling pretty yucky as it the first day of TTOM. It was also a fairly stressful day at work full of people problems and lots of negotiating. I'm kind of tired, achey, and very much in need of chocolate and comfort. So I treat myself.
It's a very nice, cool night so I open up all of the windows. I set up the kitchen CD player with my current audio book, The Thirteen Tale. I put my kitty in her bed up on a stool in the kitchen so she can watch me. And then I start making chocolate chip cookies. I'm a stress baker, and making chocolate chip cookies is completely therapeutic to me. I enjoy my book, smell the wonderful scent of the outdoors with the freshly cut grass as well as the freshly baked cookies, and every few minutes scratch my feline friend's adorable head. And of course I'm eating lots of cookie dough batter as well as a couple of baked cookies.
Nothing is better for my mental well-being and relieving stress than a night like this. I felt so much better and was ready for a blissful night's sleep afterwards.
Take your shrinks and group therapy. Take your Prozac and Paxil and whatever else the pharmaceutical companies are pushing now (I can't keep up with all of the crap out there.). Take your nights on the town, bar-hopping, night clubs, cigarettes, and booze. I'm perfectly content in my kitchen, and there's not much in life that can't be fixed with the addition of chocolate chip cookies, a feline, and books!

Food Journal for June 7th, 8th, and 9th
DH and I visited our families in PA on Saturday and Sunday. It was hot, hot, hot....and miserable. Mom and Dad don't have central air (hell, they don't have the internet or a touch tone phone either), so there was nowhere to be comfortable. I did absolutely no exercise there, but I'm not blaming it just on being there. I've been in a very vegetable-type state since for the last several days. I feel fine....it's just that I want a break. And since we are on vacation, I'm taking one. Granted, we are now back home and I could exercise if I wanted, but I don't feel like it. Most likely, though, I'll get up tomorrow and do something before it becomes so miserably hot. I know I'm just being lazy.

What is With People?!
Okay, part of my job (well, a big part of my job) is to deal with people issues at work. Performance, conflicts, relations, etc. But here's what's funny: I can go days....weeks even....with no issues. But then I'll have a day like today when my office should have a revolving door or line queues like they have at Disney. It's like everybody waits until the same day to talk with me about their problems.
And selfishly, I don't have a lot of time to deal with them right now. I have one more day of work (tomorrow) where I have to get everything done before I take my certification test on Friday, and then take some well-deserved vacation next week.
Just venting, I guess. Because I sure as heck don't have a person to talk with at work when the going gets rough. Since I'm that person, I guess I'll just talk with myself through my blog! Damn, I'm a good listener!

Does Everybody Know I'm Pregnant?!?!?
Lord, help me. I've often written about my co-worker, "Cathy" who is pregnant. This woman bugs me like no other. She needs to make sure that everybody knows she is pregnant. Of course (as mentioned before), she's not of a delicate size, so it's kind of hard to tell if she's pregnant or if she just upped her already enormous junk food intake.
I rarely sit in the company's lunch room simply for the fact that she is in there, and she makes comments on absolutely everything other people eat. That's so damn irritating. "Oh, Olivia....you're eating Oreos today. Double Stuff?" "Oh, Maria, Nutter Butters AGAIN?" "Emily, you always are eating tofu!" Jill, do you ever eat anything besides chicken salads?" All the while she herself is stuffing her pregnant body with junk. "Oh, but I'm eating for two!"
But that's all besides the point. Today we are sitting there, and there is another pregnant young woman beside me. Somebody at the table talking about moving boxes, and Cathy came right out with, "well Amy and I can't move boxes in our condition!" Um, nobody was asking her to do anything. They were talking about something they were doing themselves. It was just one more, "HEY EVERYBODY....I HAD SEX AND IT TOOK....PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEE!" type of comment.
I never understood women who were so proud of their pregnancies. So, you had sex. So what? Are you pleased that somebody found you attractive enough to do the hokey pokey? That's really not such a big deal. In fact, some men pay for it. Why should the world be excited over your conception? As I see it, you basically failed Birth Control 101. Read the packages better, idiot.

Food and Workout Journal for Sunday, June 1, 2008
I was supposed to weigh myself today, but forgot about it. Since I will only do it first thing in the morning, I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm not really expecting any weight loss since I've had a pretty bad few weeks as far as eating goes. Today was no exception!
9:00 a.m. (ish) 1/2 waffle w/syrup, small glass OJ (DH got up early and made the batter. The guy just never follows directions and things do not taste as they should. Hence, I only ate 1/2 the waffle. Hey, he tries. Sort of.)
12:00 p.m. 1 piece Rascal House pizza w/pepperoni and onions, 3 Dove chocolate caramels
3:00 p.m. Ruby Tuesday's w/DH: Salad from the salad bar (greens and veggies, shredded cheese, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, ranch dressing, croutons), 1 and 1/2 Ruby Mini's (min cheeseburgers), few French fries
5:00 p.m. 3 Dove chocolate caramels
6:00 p.m. 1 Popsicle
6:00 p.m. 1 Popsicle
7:15 p.m. 1 Root Beer suck candy
8:30 p.m. 1 piece Rascal House pizza w/pepperoni and onions, small glass regular Sprite
8:30 p.m. 1 piece Rascal House pizza w/pepperoni and onions, small glass regular Sprite
WORKOUT: Walk to/from Ruby Tuesday's via bike trail (approx. 1 hour total)
STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!!
Well, I've been doing my best to prepare for my PHR exam, and I think I'm doing fairly well. I did all of the sample test questions on the CD provided with the SHRM Learning System (all 1,040 of them), and I scored a 79%. Not great, but I only need 70% to pass. I think I missed some of them out of pure exhaustion.
I also did a couple more tests from other sources. I scored 81% on a 106-question test that was provided from our study group yesterday. Today I did a timed computerized test from the HRCI (the organization who actually gives the test) and scored 82%. I was very happy with that score as the test was hard. Plus the questions are supposed to be very similar to what will be on the actual test, so I was relieved with how close I am. I still have to read up on Employee and Labor Relations (the union crap), as I only scored 56.25% on that area. I'm very glad not to have to deal with unions in my job. I think I'd pull my hair out over all of the stupidity.
With the test being on Friday, I have a few more days to get ready.
